Lyrics for Ionosphere:

back

Two feet on the ground
and in the ionosphere, a sound
and it's letting me know
that it's know or never:
I gotta get away from here today.
But it's too late, the plans I should have made
I never made them and there's no time for complex
calculations and the sky lights up
and the ground begins to shake
and there's nothing left for me to do.

I tried to call your phone just to tell you that I'm thinking of you
as the world begins to spin on its axis askew
but all the towers are falling and the landlines are too
so I'm sorry I couldnt get through.

I maybe wanted to say a few words about
what a strange day it was:
"Isn't it interesting that we'll never see tomorrow again?
Do you remember, we thought we'd live forever,
but I guess forever's over today?"

I never told you a thousand little things I wish I did.
I wish I didn't hesistate; wanna go back in time, meet you all over again
feel it over again, it'll be different, it'll be different.

I can only imagine what you're doing while the world is slowly splitting in two;
I hope you're not just sitting there, listing out everything you still need to do.
You're probably still in shock, you haven't gotten to the entry in the back of your mind
I'm at the bottom of a long long list of loose ends you never even tried to tie.

And besides the sky is pregnant with incandescent satellites, prismatic fireflies write
heirogliphics here. Cryptic messages here in the stratosphere and it's more
beautiful than anything i've ever ever seen in my life.

So I guess it's for the best that my signal is dead,
no bars, someone get my ass to mars if you still can, this wasn't the plan this can't be the end.
I want to see tomorrow again and again and again.

I tried to call your phone just to tell you that I'm thinking of you
as the world begins to spin on its axis askew
but all the towers are falling and the landlines are too
so I'm sorry I couldnt get through.

I tried climbing a crumbling building shimmering with granite and obsidian stars.
Constellations of concrete connected twenty tons of rebar.
And I swear, it made a massive antenna array for a second
hope it sent a message hope you find time to check it.
